WSOP 2015 online event format gets changed
Online play will now last until the final table is reached, not until the start of heads-up play, and there will also be a one day break before the live final table to make sure every player has time to get to the Rio Casino.
As we have previously reported, Caesars Entertainment has published the schedule for the 2015 WSOP at the beginning of February. There are a total of 68 events in the schedule and several of these are being organized for the first time ever, including the first online event.
According to the original plans the $1,000 buy-in tournament would be played online on the WSOP's official Nevada online site, WSOP.com from July 2. The tournament would last until heads-up play is reached and the heads-up would be played out the next day in the Rio Casino, but Caesars announced changes to the format on March 10.
If the new format is approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission (and since there are no registered players yet who could suffer a disadvantage from the change, it's very likely that this will be the case), online play will last until the 6-handed final table is set, and the live play at the Rio will continue on July 4 after a 1-day break, so Nevada players who live further from Las Vegas also have time to get to Sin City.
