WSOPE 2013 Kicks Off, Jackie Glazier Wins First Bracelet

With the €1,100 NLHE Ladies Event, this year’s World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) launched at the Casino Barrière d'Enghien-les-Bains in Paris.

At last weekend, the European instalment of the World Series of Poker kicked off in Paris, at the Casino Barrière d'Enghien-les-Bains. Originally, seven bracelet events had been planned but an eighth was added later, the €1,100 NLHE Ladies Event. It is with this tournament that the WSOPE 2013 launched. A total of 65 players registered and accumulated €62,400 in prize money. Several renowned female players were among the entrants, including Liv Boeree, Gaelle Baumann and Jackie Glazier. The latter two made it to the eight-handed Final Table, too.

The finale started with the following seat draw:

The Final Table of the event took place on 12 October. With only 7 ITM finishes, the first to be eliminated was to be the bubble, too; in the 10th hand, Anais Lerouge was railed in 8th position. Two hands later, shortstack Baumann shoved with pocket fours, Laurie Bismuth called with A-9 and a nine arrived on the board.

Sherrill Lindsey, Nathalie Odet and Celine Bastian followed and the heads-up formulated when Bismuth’s A-J hand got cracked by Glazier’s A-K.

In the last hand of the game, Maryline Valente moved all-in with around 90,000 in chips and pocket sixes. Glazier called with pocket jacks and the board came 4-A-Q-5-7.

Australian Jackie Glazier won €21,850 with her first ever WSOPE title.
