Wednesday in the morning, 2010 WSOP Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel was attacked in his Boucherville home. Although the Longueuil police have only confirmed that there has been an attack, they have not released any specific information; Duhamel’s agent Yves Bouchard, however, has announced that his client is the victim.

According to the police report, two men rang the doorbell at Duhamel’s house then forced themselves in, as he answered and opened the door. Once inside, they attacked him but he managed to call the police following the assault. Duhamel was immediately taken to hospital but he was released on Thursday, having no serious injuries.

The investigation now aims at finding out if the attack on the 2010 world champion was planned. Meanwhile, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of one of the attackers, of whom Duhamel was able to give a description. No information has surfaced yet regarding their loot and if they were armed.

Duhamel is the first Canadian player ever to have won a poker world championship; he was even nominated the Canadian Sportsman of the Year title in 2010. His Main Event victory won him $8,944,310 and his live tournament winnings total at around $10 million.
