PokerStars Officially Switches to Weighted Contributed Rake Calculation

In the first days of January, 2012, PokerStars introduces the weighted contributed rake calculation in place of the old dealt method. Additional improvements are also scheduled for the first half of next year.

PokerStars

As reported, PokerStars is about to follow many of the major poker rooms in changing its rake calculation method to weighted calculated. Currently, the market leader company uses the dealt calculation, which means each player dealt into a hand gets even share of the rake. In the weighted contributed method, players share the rake in proportion to their contributions to the pot.

PokerStars has just announced that it changes its rake calculation method, effective 1 January, 2012. This change affects the PokerStars VIP system as well, more specifically, the VPP distribution: with the new method, VPPs will also be distributed based on the players’ contribution to the pot in cash games. Moreover, game style also affects VPPs as more aggressive players will be able to collect points faster than before, while tighter players will progress slower.

The cash game rake percentages will be rounded with the maximum rake being 4.5%.

Moreover, the room has announced several additional updates as well, including 6-handed and 9-handed hyper turbo S’n’Gs and a “fast moving ring games product,” according to the official statement released on 2p2. You can read more details here.
