Oliver Speidel Wins Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event

Phil Ivey being eliminated on Day 5 of the Aussie Millions AS10,600 Main Event in 12th place, the Final Table saw 7 players returning for the title. Australian Oliver Speidel recorded his greatest success so far, winning the event.

On Day 6 of the Main Event, the Final Table took place, with Bjorn Li in the chiplead with 4,775,000. Renowned online pro Mohamad ‘TerrorOfSweden’ Kowssarie was also present as shortstack. The setup of the final was as follows:

Kowssarie started out well, winning several major pots and even doubling up on Li, which resulted in him becoming the chilpeader with 4,490,000. The first to be eliminated, on the other hand, was Yann Dion, followed by Li and Patrick Healy.

Kowssarie eventually finished 4th, dropping out at Level 26 (10,000/40,000/80,000): Speidel opened to 160,000 from the button, ‘TerrorOfSweden’ went all-in with the few chips he had left and the Australian insta-called.

Speidel won with a full house.

After this, the finale was over soon. Speidel sent Mile Krstanoski to the rail as well and Kenneth Wong has never really had a chance in the heads-up, either. In the final hand, Wong pushed in on his pocket nines, Speidel called with aces and his hand held out.

The Aussie broke his record from last year when he won the A$1,000 NLHE event for A$100,595; now he could take home considerably more, A$1,600,000. The final result is as follows:
