2+2 Hacked, E-mail Addresses and Passwords Leaked

A hacker has attacked the 2+2 forum, gaining access to user data and passwords. If you use the same password that you used on 2+2 elsewhere, like in e-mail clients or poker rooms, I suggest you change it immediately.

TwoPlusTwo Forum

If you are a registered member of the online poker forum 2+2 and you use the same password on other sites, too, it is highly advised that you change it. The forum has been hacked and is currently unavailable. The hackers gained access to e-mail addresses and passwords, among others.

First, the site became inaccessible and it said “maintenance”; however, forum moderator Kevin ‘Kevmath’ Mathers later announced on Twitter that the site has actually been attacked by a hacker. He reported that the exact nature of data accessed this way is yet unclear, although it seems almost certain that e-mail addresses and passwords have been compromised.

2+2 has sent the following letter to its forum members:

“Dear Two Plus Two Members,

On April 26th at approximately 11:20 AM pacific time, the Two Plus Two Forums were closed as a result of a hacker who has displayed the ability to access e-mail addresses and encrypted passwords. He also indicated the ability to decrypt passwords.

While it is unclear the extent of data to which he gained access, e-mail addresses and passwords on the Two Plus Two forums should be considered compromised. If you have used your 2+2 password on any other site, you are advised to change it.

For your security, we are closing the forums until the breach is patched. Upon reopening the forums you will be forced to change your password - it is counterproductive to do so now.

We hope to be back up as soon as possible.

Best,

Two Plus Two Interactive”
