The Durrrr Challenge 2 Finally Continues

Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates and Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan have agreed on playing at least 4,000 hands in August and 8,000 hands in every two months afterwards.

Durrrr Challenge 2

Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates and Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan kicked off the second Durrrr Challenge in August, 2010. Their clash lasted 19,335 hands, in which ‘jungleman’ made $1,251,059 in profits. Apparently unable to handle the NLHE heads-up specialist in his prime, ‘durrrr’ started to postpone additional sessions in the last phase of the Challenge and chose the profitable games in Macau instead.

Following the events of 15 April, 2011, or the Black Friday of online poker, and especially the revoking of the licence of Full Tilt Poker and the consequent shutting down of the room put the Challenge on ice for the foreseeable future, even though ‘jungleman’ kept saying in interviews that he would be willing to continue either in another room or live. No more sessions were played regardless.

FTP re-launched last November but the Challenge remained paused, except for a mini session earlier this year. Now, however, the two pros have apparently agreed on the terms of the continuation of their game:

“Regarding the durrrr challenge, we agreed to play a min of 4k hands/month, and then 8k hands every 2 months afterwards. If we dont play 4k hands a month in august, then restrictions will be made. I guess restrictions means scheduled times, penalties for not complying...” Cates posted on 2+2.

If the Durrrr Challenge is completed according to this agreement, it may be finished by March next year.

The current standings of the Durrrr Challenge 2 are as follows:

Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan v. Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates
In the lead: Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates
Profit: $1,250,817
Hands played: 19,718
Hands left: 30,282

Start: August, 2010
