Fabian Quoss Wins PCA Super High Roller 2014

The first major tournament of the year, the PCA 2014 $100,000 Super High Roller brought about Fabian Quoss’ victory. The German pro won $1,629,940.

Day 3 of the PCA 2014 $100,000 Super High Roller saw the seven-handed Final Table with Dan Shak in the chip lead (stack: 3,700,000), slightly ahead of Vanessa Selbst. Antonio Esfandiari and Quoss were not far behind, unlike Matt Glantz, Tony Gregg and Ole Schemion, all under 10 BBs in chips.

The Final Table seat draw was as follows:

Play started on Level 19 (10,000/30,000/60,000) and Schemion soon pushed his 260,000 to the middle from UTG. Gregg re-raised all-in for 390,000, Quoss called from the Button and the others folded.

Quoss won and eliminated both his opponents, Schemion in 7th and Gregg in 6th place.

Soon, Glantz was out as well, his J-T hand cracked by Selbst’s A-J. She kept attacking on Level 20 (10,000/40,000/80,000) as well, at one time raising to 160,000 from the Button with A K. Esfandiari 3-bet to 430,000 with 9 9, Selbst had the Big One champion’s stack counted (1.9 million in chips) but chose to 4-bet to 780,000. Esfandiari, however, moved all-in and Selbst called to see the 2 4 5 A 5 board. Esfandiari was out in 4th place.

The three-handed game lasted until the end of Level 23 (20,000/80,000/160,000), when Selbst shoved from the Button for a little over 2 million in chips, holding K-9. Quoss called with A-4 and his hand held out on the board.

On Level 24 (20,000/100,000/200,000), the tournament ended: in the last hand, Quoss limped from the SB, Shak checked and the flop came T 7 Q. Shak check-called the 200,000 bet from Quoss and they saw the 9 turn. Shak checked again, Quoss bet 425,000, Shak raised all-in for 2,275,000 and Quoss called.

Quoss won the champion’s title with a straight.

His previous best lifetime score was a 2nd finish in last year’s Aussie Millions A$250,000 Super High Roller event for $791,774. He set up a new personal career record with a $1,629,940 win.
