A total of 1,005 players entered the PCA 2014 $10,000 Main Event for a share of the $10,000,000 guaranteed prize pool on Days 1A and 1B. Registration is still open on Day 2.

PCA 2014 Main Event Day 1B

On 7 January, the PCA 2014 $10,000 Main Event started with a $10,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day 1A saw 295 players, of whom 194 made it to Day 2. American player Dylan Hortin collected the most chips on the day, 160,500, while Sam ‘Str8$$$Homey’ Greenwood and Joseph ‘subiime’ Cheong also made it to the top ten.

The latter secured his position with some major pots, including one he won from P5s’ PLB 2013 list winner Calvin Anderson on the last Level of the Day (75/300/600). Cheong raised to 1,400 from the CO, Anderson 3-bet to 4,500 from the BB and Cheong called. The flop came JHeart 8Spade 5Diamond, Anderson c-bet to 5,725 and Cheong called again. The turn came 2Spade, they both checked and saw the 6Diamond on the river. Anderson checked again, Cheong bet 6,625 and Anderson called. Cheong showed THeart 6Heart for a third pair, Anderson had A-K. Despite the weirdly played hand, Anderson is also doing well with 88,000 in chips.

On Day 1B, an enormous field of 710 players sat down to the tables of the Atlantis Resort. In the end, 448 of them survived, which means 642 participants remain for Day 2, plus those joining the fun today. In the chip lead is WSOP 2007 $3,000 NLHE champion Shankar Pillai with 173,900, slightly ahead of Day 1A winner Hortin. WSOP 2009 Main Event 3rd finisher Antoine Saout also made it to the combined top ten with 131,600 in chips.
