Shawn Buchanan Wins Third COOP Title

Shawn ‘buck21’ Buchanan is the first player ever to win a WCOOP, a SCOOP as well as a TCOOP title. The question still remains: who takes down the Grand Slam first?

Shawn 'buck21' Buchanan

Shawn ‘buck21’ Buchanan is one of the most successful multi-table tournament players around. He is the holder of a WPT title, finale qualifier of multiple WSOP events and boasts lifetime tournament winnings of $5.6 million. He is also a successful online player, as demonstrates his triple PokerStars COOP title.

PokerStars is the host of three COOP series: the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), or the online “world series”; the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP); as well as the Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP).

Buchanan first took down a WCOOP event, back in 2007, winning the $530 PLO tournament for $97,262. He booked then two SCOOP victories, in the $2,100 Razz event in 2012 for $44,145 and in the $2,100 NLHE 10-Max Shootout in 2013 for $118,800. Additionally, he has two major SCOOP scores: he finished second in both the $1,575 NLHE 2XC Turbo event in 2009 for $175,140 and in the $530+R NLHE 6-Max in 2010 for $137,295.

Most recently, he has registered his first TCOOP victory as well, besting the field of 1,075 in the $82 Razz tournament for $14,714. Buchanan rejoiced at his achievement via his twitter: “Just binked the RAZZ Tcoop lol my last 4 razz mtts I think I came 1st 2nd 3rd and 1st on stars #rungoodinrazzneeda50kwsopRAZZevent!” He wrote.

No one has completed the Grand Slam yet, though; to do that, one needs the three COOP titles as well as a Sunday Million victory. Next to Buchanan, David ‘Gunslinger3’ Bach and Andrey ‘Kroko-dill’ Zaichenko are also just one title away from the feat.
