WSOP Releases Official 2014 Schedule

A total of 65 bracelet events take place in this year’s World Series of Poker festival and the winner of the Main Event is guaranteed to take home at least $10 million.

For a short period of time, the WSOP 2014 schedule has recently become available; whether out of mistake or as a marketing pull remains unknown. While the company was quick to remove the unofficial schedule from the site, it had already made it to most forums by the time and stirred up the community most notably by hinting at a guaranteed $10 million first prize in the Main Event. Only one champion booked a larger sum in the history of WSOP Main Events: Jamie Gold won $12 million in 2006.

On 11 February, Caesars Entertainment finally officially released the WSOP 2014 calendar: 65 events are taking place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas between 27 May and 14 July. The $10,000 Main Event kicks off on 5 July and it indeed boasts a $10 million guaranteed first prize.

On 27 May, two events mark the beginning of the festival: in addition to the traditional $500 Casino Employees NLHE, a new tournament will also take place, the $25,000 Mixed Max NLHE. On the next day, the lowest ever buy-in Omaha event launches in the history of the WSOP, the $1,000 PLO. Of course, more exotic events follow later on as well, including the $1,500 NLHE Monster Stack.

This year, a total of 12 events with a buy-in of $10,000 each made it to the schedule. The list is as follows:

The largest ever buy-in tournament also makes a return in 2014: the Big One for One Drop starts on 27 June. On the 22nd the same month, the $50,000 Poker Players Championship launches and the Millionaire Maker NLHE is also back with a $1,500 buy-in and a $1,000,000 guaranteed first prize.

“For ten years we have tried to raise the bar on tournament poker. There is real optimism 2014 can be our biggest year yet with an anticipated $200 million in prize money to be paid out this summer.
