Gruissem Leads All Star Field to EPT Grand Final SHR Day 2

German high roller aces dominate the action at the EPT Grand Final Super High Roller: Philipp Gruissem in the lead, Ole Schemion is close behind.

Gruissem and Colman

The EPT Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller event launched on 24 April with 48 entrants on Day 1 and 11 re-entries. This means 59 buy-ins so far, although registration is still open at the start of Day 2, so expect more entries and an even larger official prize pool.

The first elimination of the day took place on Level 3 (200/800/1,600): Vladimir Troyanovskiy checked the 6Heart TDiamond 2Heart flop, Sam Trickett bet 8,200, Troyanovskiy raised to 21,000 and Trickett called. On the 8Diamond turn, Troyanovskiy bet 27,000 and Trickett called again. Troyanovskiy chacked once more on the 4Heart river, Trickett tanked a bit and then moved all-in. The Russian snap-called and showed QHeart JHeart for a flush, Trickett held AClubs TSpade and then admitted to expecting this hand of Troyanovskiy. The British ace did not return on Day 1 but may come back on Day 2.

Shortly after, Daniel Negreanu entered and crushed the day, finishing with 915,000 in chips for a third place in the chip counts. Already in his first hand, he took a major pot and eliminated Vanessa Selbst, who re-entered. Selbst had top pair and moved all-in on the river, to be easily cracked by the Canadian’s nut straight.

The German division of high roller specialists have also come and dominated as usual. Philipp Gruissem outperformed the field and finished 1st, counting 1,038,000 in chips, and Ole Schemion is not far behind in 4th place with a stack of 847,000. Tobias Reinkemeier (270,000), Max Altergott (250,000) and Fabian Quoss (155,000) also qualified for Day 2, where the average stack size is 398,649.

A total of 37 players remained and the field is worthy of an EPT Grand Final Super High Roller – just check the chip counts below and see for yourself. On Day 2 starting at noon, players will aim at getting to the finale.
