After the rooms of a number of players had been broken into at the very beginning of this year’s WSOP, yet another scandal is here: five times WSOP champion Jeff Lisandro engaged two times bracelet holder and WPT champion Brandon Cantu in a hallway.

The first to report on the event was Bryan Leskowitz via his Twitter:

“Just got to witness Brandon Cantu and Jeff Lisandro get into an epic fistfight in the Rio hallway over some unpaid debt

“So basically: here are cliffs notes. Walk by, see Cantu yelling something. Words exchanges. Couple punches thrown. Shirt grabbed/ripped

“Security breaks it up. Something about a big unpaid debt. Not too sure on details. Cantu removed. Lisandro stays behind to cool off. Epic,” Leskowitz tweeted.

It goes without saying that the tweets were quick to spread and the poker media moved on to investigate. Bluff’s Thomas Keeling did not manage to confirm the fistfight; then again, it is something neither the parties involved nor the casino would like to publicize. Still, at least a verbal fight has indeed took place, as Canto had borrowed money from Lisandro on several occasions, which he seems unable as well as unwilling to pay back. According to Lisandro, Cantu has a serious gambling addiction.

In an interview, Lisandro said he considered himself an old school gambler who respects his debts and the game, unlike the newer generations, which he finds disappointing.
