Underground Poker - New series with Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak

The two poker players have been best friends for a long time, they already had a TV show together, called "I Bet You", which lasted 2 seasons. This time around, they're hunting for underground private games, the pilot will be aired on Discovery Channel on September 10.

The show will be a mix of a documentary and reality TV, and the first episode is set in New Orleans. So far, only the pilot has been filmed, but if the reception is positive, more episodes will be filmed, and the two players are going to travel to a different city in each episode.

Their goal is to find private high-stakes games, but it's hard to get into these games without knowing the local players, so their journey started out in a $1/$2 blind game, where people were buying in for $50 or $100. Laak thought this was a good opportunity to meet some new players who could possibly open the doors for them for bigger, juicier games in the future.

Poker hands are not the focus of the series however, it's mostly about Phil and Antonio looking for the games, and of course, needling each other along the way.

The idea for the show sparked on the set of Runner Runner, where Esfandiari and Laak were doing a cameo apperance. The producer of the movie, Jennifer Killoran thought the duo was hilarious and they needed their own TV show.

Phil and Antonio are going to be watching the pilot live on Discovery Channel and will be answering the viewers questions on Twitter.
