Todd Brunson beats Andy Beal for $5 million in Heads-up Limit Hold'em

Billionaire businessman Andy Beal, who is famous for playing against a group of professionals called The Corporation for enormous stakes in the early 2000s has once again returned to the tables at Bobby's Room and has reportedly lost $5 million in a $50,000/$100,000 Limit Hold'em heads-up battle against Todd Brunson.

Andy Beal became one of the legends of poker when he challenged the best players in Las Vegas to an epic series of heads-up battles around 10-15 years ago.

Beal showed up in Las Vegas and wanted to play the biggest names in poker, for extremely high stakes. To be able to play the huge stakes that Beal wanted, the players decided to pool their money and form "The Corporation" which consisted of players like Doyle Brunson, Chip Reese, Todd Brunson, Ted Forrest, Jennifer Harman, Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Barry Greenstein and Chau Giang.

The crew would then take turns in playing Beal heads-up, but the billionaire proved to be a bigger threat then anticipated. His hyper-aggressive style, combined with the pressure that the huge stakes put on the professionals made it possible for him to win several millions from the players in the game.

The biggest game happened in 2004 when Beal played $100,000/$200,000 Limit Hold'em against Chip Reese and Ted Forrest. The game is considered to be the largest poker game ever and has inspired Michael Craig's book "The Professor, the Banker and the Suicide King".

Beal retired from poker in 2006, it is rumored that he gave up when Phil Ivey won 16.6 million from him in a 2-day session. It is still unclear how much Beal and The Corporation have won or lost by the end of the series.

The American businessman resurfaced at Bobby's Rooom in Las Vegas a couple of days ago, playing $50,000/$100,000 Limit Hold'em against Todd Brunson, both players sat down with $5 million.

According to reports that Brunson has since confirmed, Brunson felted Beal and took the whole $5 million.

It is currently unknown whether the billionaire plans on playing any more sessions or if he was just looking for a quick game. Kyle Loman posted the following picture on Twitter, depicting the epic heads-up battle.
