Poker Pros take on AI again

After ’Claudico’, there is a new challenger developed by Carnegie Mellon University to show the world bots can beat real life poker players.

The original "Brains Vs. Artificial Intelligence" was held in 2015, during which Doug "WCGRider" Polk, Dong "Donger Kim" Kim, Bjorn "iamalagtard" Li and Jason Les battled Claudico 8 hours a day for two weeks at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

The Brains did not disappoint, they beat Claudico by a combined $732,713. Unfortunately for them, these were just virtual dollars, however, they split the $100,000 award by Microsoft.

Carnegie Mellon University did not quit though, as they spent the last 2 years developing a new contender, Libratus, to take revenge. Les and Kim returned for the Brains, but Polk and Li have been replaced by Jimmy Chuo and Daniel McAulay.

The game in play is once again NLHE HU. Players battle between January 11 and 30. After 20% of the hands completed, the bot has opened up a lead of $135,000. Some of the comments claim the group of humans is weaker than last time, mostly because the absence of Polk.

Phil Galfond said however, that this is not true, claiming that all of them are way stronger than him. As the bot goes for the unthinkable and beat humans for the first documented time, you can follow the matches live on Twitch.
