Ivan Leow wins yet another Triton Super High Roller
The Malaysian Leow took down Triton Poker Super High Roller in Sochi for $1,134,000.
Part of the 2018 Partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia, the RUB6,000,000 Triton Poker Super High Roller started with only 5 players, who were joined by another 9 participants on the first day. On the second day, the number more than doubled as the field grew to 29 with 9 re-entries.
The registration remained open for the first three level of Day 2 and Timofey "Treuteller" Kuznetsov, Koray Aldemir, Patrik Antonius, and Richard Yong, just like his son Wai Kin all fired another bullet.
The winner of the RUB3,000,000 High Roller, Aymon Hata also entered the SHR, but was unable to repeat his performance and busted before the final two tables. Phil Ivey had a big stack at the start of the day but eventually busted after several players double through him. Johannes Becker was running pretty poorly, as he lost with kings against Ace-king and then with nines against nines, in a hand where his opponent made a straight with the same starting hand.
Germany was represented pretty strong in this event too, and two of the country's players made the money too. Manig Loeser got 4th for RUB 8,000,000 ($283,500) and Abraham Passet 2nd for RUB 47,040,000 ($740,880). Wai Leong Chan finished between the two Germans, he finished in 3rd place for RUB 30,000,000 ($472,500).
Passet eliminating in 2nd place
Ivan was giving action throughout the whole tournament, and he didn't switch gears for the final table either. He was constantly pushing hard, eliminating several opponents. In the heads-up, against Passet the chips went back and forth for quite some time, but eventually, Leow was able to build a sizeable lead over the German and finished him off with two pairs against a flush draw.
For Abraham, this runner-up finish, and the $740K coming with it was the biggest ever score, by far, as his total live earning were only $53,000 before the event. Ivan also booked his biggest-ever win in the form of a $1,133,555 payday, which is almost $55K bigger than his $1,079,367 in Jeju.
