PokerStars Comments Chinese Collusion Scandal

Two days ago I have written about the China-based players that were caught cheating at PokerStars’ Double or Nothing Sit & Go tables, but not much was sure for the time being. A few new details were revealed recently, as according to PokerNewsDaily.com, a member of PokerStars’ Game Security team by the name of 'Jackson' replied to 6 of the numerous questions PokerNewsDaily.com has asked.

He stated that PokerStars discovered the activity of the collusion ring in February, 2010, and since then 38 accounts were closed due to suspected illegal activities in this case, which is a lower number than what 2+2 members claim, 46. The net profit the conspirators earned was $494,000, however, PokerStars has paid $2,100,000 in compensation to the victims, though it is not clear how many of them earned it, and in what quantities. As 'Jackson' agreed that PokerStars has some room for improvement in relation to collusion detection, the spokesperson thinks they now have addressed game security properly.

“PokerStars has introduced a new security function to prevent players from certain countries from playing in the same Double or Nothing events together,” which will ensure that "only one player from each of several countries (those countries involved in this restriction were not given) will be able to play in these events.” -  'Jackson' reports.
