HSP7: Who’s Going to See the Flop?

Unlike HP7, this is not the title of a current fairy tale: following the rumors of Full Tilt Poker banning its pros from the show High Stakes Poker Season 7, a couple of other top players have cancelled their participation, too.

The blow to the GSN show HSP that FTP considers not to let its pros participate being only the beginning, two of the remaining “draw” names, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth now also either are uncertain to show up before the cameras or have already called it off for good. The former has just finished 9th in the APPT Sydney main event and has posted the following statement on his Twitter recently: "Sad news: at airport headed home which means the trip is over Sad have a commercial shoot when I land which means no HSP for me this year."

With Negreanu away and Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Gus Hansen as well as Mike Matusow probably missing, the Poker Brat might still be able to make the show fun, but he announced he was only “fifty-fifty” to participate. Moreover, no word about Doyle Brunson so far, so basically David ‘Viffer’ Peat is the only one explicitly wishing to take part; he, however, is currently recovering from illness.

Perhaps it is a sign they should bring in new faces. I cannot wait to hear from HSP management on this issue.
