PokerStars online pro and HU SNG specialist Bjorn ‘Bjoerni89’ Schneider has been pretty open about his intention to break Kevin ‘WizardOfAhhs’ Thurman’s record of 3,055,385 VPPs, set in 2010. He has communicated this over several interviews, although he would usually add that he has not been obsessed with doing this at all costs.

Nevertheless, the German grinder hit it hard in December and he crossed the 3,000,000 VPPs mark on the 21st, during a major session against Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom. Two days later, the new record was set: he totalled at 3,058,660 VPPs.

Although losing about $90,000 in 2011 online, ‘Bjoerni89’ still finished the year with a handsome profit, due to his massive rake generation. His income is estimated to be around $100,000 – $400,000.

2011 was the year of breakthrough for the 22 years old player. A couple of years back he was playing $5 FR and 6-max SNG; after he switched to heads-up, he managed to climb as high as the $100 limit. He started the year at this level and kept evolving rapidly, reaching the $5,000 SNGs in October. It is little wonder, therefore, that PokerStars signed him as a Team Pro member in November.

Besides poker, ‘Bjoerni89’ studies Philosophy and History at the University of Göttingen.
