On 30 January, the EPT Deauville €10,300 High Roller event kicked off with 95 entrants (and 18 re-entries). Eventually, 53 players survived the day with Marton Czuczor in the lead; he built his stack by eliminating players like David Vamplew and Lauri Pesonen. At the end of the day, Czuczor was accompanied by Konstantin Puchkov, Panka, Toby Lewis, Martin Staszko, Kitai, Steve O'Dwyer, Dominik Nitsche, Artem Litvinov and Stephen Chidwick, just to highlight a few of the illustrious field.

On Day 2, the registration was closed and entries totalled at 115 for a prize pool of €1,150,000. The 55 players aimed at reaching the Final Table, or at least one of the 17 in the money finishes.

The highlight hands of the day were played by Day 1 chipleader Czuczor and WSOP 2011 $10,000 World Championship runner-up Staszko. First, Czuczor opened to 22,000 from early position on Level 18 (1,000/5,000/10,000), Staszko re-raised all-in from a larger stack and Czuczor snap-called.

Czuczor doubled up to 500,000 in chips, while Staszko had only 100,000 left. Soon, the two of them found themselves in a three-way all-in: with only 82,000, Staszko shoved on Level 19 (2,000/6,000/12,000), Czuczor re-raised all-in and Ondrej Vinklarek pushed his stack in the middle, too.

Staszko tripled up to 240,000 with his nut straight, Vinklarek took the side pot and Czuczor was left with only 26,000. He pushed with a K-4 hand, Staszko called with A-6 and the former got eliminated in 12th place for €20,500.

Eventually, Staszko bubbled the Final Table, which is led by Albert Daher. WPT Merit Cyprus Classic 2013 Main Event 2nd finisher Daher has a major lead with 1,300,000 in chips, nearly twice as much as second largest stack Martin Schleich.
