EPT London Results - Vamplew Beats Juanda
So, how did you like the EPT finals? If you missed out yesterday's live broadcast of the final table of the EPT London, here's the news: with surprise victory, the 23-year old Scottish player David Vamplew, beat the poker legend John Juanda in the 4 hour long heads-up scoring his first tournament victory and the Ł900,000 main prize as well.
8 players started the final table of the EPT London tournament's $5,000 Main Event, with varying chip counts:
Chair 1: David Vamplew - 3,670,000
Chair 2: Tom Marchese - 1,480,000
Chair 3: Fernando Brito - 1,100,000
Chair 4: Per Ummer - 1,245,000
Chair 5: Artur Wasek - 2,250,000
Chair 6: Kayvan Payman - 1,295,000
Chair 7: Kyle Bowker - 7,165,000
Chair 8: John Juanda - 7,075,000
The final table
Per Ummer was the first to say goodbye, followed by Tom Marchese, the Portuguese Fernando Brito, Kayvan Payman and the Polish giant, Artur Wasek. With only 3 players at the table, it was really tough to guess who will win this year, all players had large stacks, and they seemed equal concerning performance. Kyle Bowker missed his chance of playing the final heads-up with an unlucky hand against Juanda. His pocket J's were no good against Juanda's pocket T's, because with an unlucky twist Juanda hit a flush with his ten of clubs. Really bad luck.
The final heads-up between Vamplew and Juanda
The final heads-up hence took place between Vamplew and Juanda who battled with one another for a little more than 4 hours. Vamplew managed to double up two times with lower cards during the game, and quickly rocketed his short stack to the chiplead. The final hand came when Vamplew being the chip leader, Juanda went all in with 3,400,000 with his K 2, and Vamplew called. Vamplew had A 3, and the board came 3, A, Q, 9, 6. With 2 pairs, the young Scot has won all, the handsome main prize, and his first tournament victory as well.
Here are the final results in case you are curious:
1. David Vamplew - £900.000
2. John Juanda - £545.000
3. Kyle Bowker - £300.000
4. Artur Wasek - £240.000
5. Kayvan Payman - £190.000
6. Fernando Brito - £145.000
7. Tom Marchese - £100.000
8. Per Ummer - £66.800
The next round of EPT will be held from 26-31 October in Vienna, I will be paying close attention, and will inform you if anything interesting happens.
