GTECH to Shut Down IPN?

GTECH reportedly aims to focus on regulated markets in the future. Unofficial sources claim this could mean the end for the International Poker Network.

GTECH

The online gaming department of GTECH, SPIELO G2, operates five individual poker networks; four of them are active in the regulated markets: the Canadian Poker Network, the Poker Club Italia, the Spain Poker Network and the Swedish Svenska Spel. The fifth one is the International Poker Network (IPN), or former Boss Media, which is operating in the .com field. According to Pokerfuse.com, the latter network might be shut down in the near future.

The news is at the moment unofficial and can be considered a rumour at best. GTECH has not yet reacted to questions concerning the discontinuation of IPN.

The reports of the network possibly shutting down emerged because GTECH is allegedly planning to focus entirely on the regulated markets, where they may be able to improve their market shares. In the .com market, they can be considered a minor player, occupying the 19th position on the overall traffic list, behind even the likes of Chico, League and SkyPoker.

If IPN does shut down, its major skins like PokerHeaven, Redbet and Bet-at-home are likely to migrate to another existing network.
