Already as of 15 February, British high stakes SNG player Ryan ‘MouldyOnions’ Bell was within arm’s reach of becoming the first SuperNova Elite (SNE) of 2013, as well as to break Andrew ‘azntracker’ Li’s “SNE speed record.” In 2011, ‘azntracker’ needed less than two months to collect the 1,000,000 VPPs required for the SNE status.

‘MouldyOnions’ has since reached the level within a total of 53 days, setting up a new record by besting Li’s achievement with 6 days. PokerStars has not yet officially announced the record, but it can be expected soon.

The first SuperNova and SuperNova Elite players of the year receive special bonuses. The first SuperNova gets 100,000 FPPs in addition to the 100,000 VPPs, as well as a photo appearance in the 2013 Collectible Card Deck. The first SuperNova Elite of the year gets double VPPs and FPPs in a 24-hour period of their own choice, and also a photo appearance on one of the court cards of the 2013 Collectible Card Deck.

A minimum of 100,000 VPPs are required for the SuperNova level, while 1,000,000 points are needed for the SuperNova Elite for online grinders in one calendar year.

The SuperNova level was first reached by Alex ‘AWice’ Wice in 2013, who needed 39 hours and 25 minutes to accumulate the necessary points.
