Neymar joins Team PokerStars

There have been rumors that PokerStars is negotiating with FC Barcelona superstar Neymar and on Thursday the company officially announced that they have signed the Brazilian player.

We have previously reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, star striker of the Paris Saint-Germain football club has declined a sponsorship offer with PokerStars.

Following the news Brazilian poker site Pokerdoc has reported that PokerStars is negotiating with several football stars including FC Barcelona striker Neymar. The 23-year old player has played 62 games for the Brazilian national team, scoring 43 goals and he is successful with his club aswell, appearing in 45 matches where he scored 34 goals and gave 10 assists.

Neymar is known to be a poker fan, in 2014 he stopped watching the Brazil vs. Germany World Cump semi-final (the German team won with a brutal 7-1 score) and went to play poker instead.

On May 7 PokerStars confirmed the sponsorship, he will be seen at the online tables under the "neymar-jr" nickname.

The signing of Neymar could potentially have a huge positive impact on poker and could result in lots of new players trying out poker.

Neymar has joined athletes like Rafa Nadal and Fatima Moreira De Melo in the PokerStars Team SportStars.
