48 players are expected to cough up the $250,000 in Monte Carlo, all top dogs, of course. Entrees who have already registered are as follows: Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey, Tom 'durrrr' Dwan, Michael and Robert Mizrachi, Huck Seed, Gus Hansen, Johnny Chan, Freddie Deeb, Tony G, Bruno Fitoussi, Allen Cunningham and John Hennigan.

Live $1,000 satellite events will also be means of qualifying for the championship, these will be held in Monaco and the Bicycle Casino in LA.

The IPPA Championship is organised by IPPA founder Yosh Nakano, a poker player himself of some reputation and manager of the ‘Bike’. “We wanted to produce a high-end poker tournament that offered a big buy-in event with quality play. We felt that we could do a good job at putting an event together that would provide the best all-around player in the world,” he said. Well, I believe they have a real shot to do so.
