The Alls Star Showdown is an online heads-up championship, the NLHE variant of which was held in November, 2012. A total of eight players paid the $100,000 buy-in: Tobias 'KTPOKP' Kuder, Ben 'Sauce123' Sulsky, Isaac 'Ike Haxton' Haxton, Alex 'Kanu7' Millar, Alexander 'Sussie Smith' Roumeliotis, Dan 'w00ki3z.' Cates, Phil 'mrsweets28' Galfond and Ben 'ben86' Tollerene.

Cates emerged as winner, defeating Sulsky in the finale. Cates took home $550,000, while Sulsky got $250,000.

Apparently, the successful All Star Showdown returns in April in PLO form. The first hints arrived via Twitter: Ashton Griffin has recently posted that he would participate in a $100,000 PLO championship.

"Playing in this 100k 1 vs 1 pot limit omaha tourney in April. Should get about 8-12 players. I'm a big favorite to be the rustiest player," Griffen tweeted.

Te post immediately got a lot of attention, spawning its own topic on the 2p2 forum, where nobody seemed to quite get what Griffin is talking about. The most plausible answer eventually came from online high stakes player ‘RaineTech’, who shared a mail from PS, addressed to high stakes players only:

“Dear Players,

I am writing this mail to everyone who has played in our highest PLO games during 2012 because I would like to hear from you regarding a possible All-Star Showdown for PLO. For those of you who don’t know, the All-Star Showdown is a Cash-Game style tournament where the participants play Heads-Up matches over four simultaneous tables. It is rake free, and players have to reveal their real names.

We just recently finished the Hold’em version of this tournament and felt that we learned a lot from that experience. The PLO version will be very similar, but we will try to avoid having players at the tables for 17 hours stretches as we did last time around.

So, for now we have a couple of questions. Would you be interested in playing in such a tournament with $100K buyin, and secondly, would April 2013 be a good period for it?

Best Regards

While no official release has been published regarding the game, a PLO All Star Showdown seems imminent.
