Poker Night in America

CBS Sports Network has announced that the larger than life poker show, Poker Night in America kicks off on 29 June. The show runs each Sunday at 22:00 ET, in the course of 26 weeks until December.

“We are looking to film the biggest and the best poker events at premier venues. We’re going to bring a fresh approach to how poker is shown on TV, making the show relevant to the average viewer. We think the world is ready to watch poker in a whole new way,” producer Todd Anderson said.

While the show may be entertaining to professionals as well, the main aim is to provide a fun show for outsiders to the game. To this end, marketable showpeople will be featured, like Mike Matusow, Layne Flack, Will Failla, Dwyte Pilgrin, Matt Glantz, Shaun Deeb, Eli Elezra, Gavin Smith, Phil Laak and Kristy Arnett, so say goodbye to the long minutes of silent tanking. Accordingly, the motto of the show says “bringing personality back to poker”.

The episodes of Poker Night in America were shot last year and some highlight moments have already been shared online. Most notably, this clip showing Matusow’s reaction to running into aces with queens and then getting slowrolled by Deeb with a four of a kind has gone viral.
