Sam Trickett Signs as Everest Poker Sponsored Pro

British poker ace Sam Trickett has recently been signed by Everest Poker a Sponsored Pro. Undoubtedly one of the most renowned faces in the industry, Trickett has so far booked a total of $19.8 million in live tournament winnings, qualifying as one the most successful players ever.

Sam Trickett

Former semi-professional footballer Trickett found poker after an injury he suffered in a cup final as a player of Retford United: after participating in local games around Sheffield, he scored his first big win in 2008. He finished 4th in the WSOP $5,000 No Limit Hold’em event for $245,927 and 1st in the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT) Luton Main Event for $215,178.

In the next two years, Tickett’s career was on the rise and, in 2010, he finally made it to the very elite for good: he finished 2nd in the WSOP $5,000 No Limit Hold’em event for about $500,000 (earning a total of $700,000 in the World Series that year), 2nd again in the EPT Vilamoura Main Event for $177,519 and won the PartyPoker World Open VI for $200,000.

In the year after, he added $4.5 million in total to his lifetime winnings, yet all that was before the biggest score of his career. Trickett entered the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop event at the WSOP 2012 and marched all the way to the heads-up, where he earned $10.1 million for his runner-up finish to Antonio Esfandiari. Add his 7th place in the $258,000 NLHE Super High Roller event in Macau for $999,184 and his victory in the Aussie Millions 2014 $250,000 Challenge for $2.1 million and you have the largest live tournament lifetime score in Europe.

As regards his contact with Everest Poker, Trickett said the following:

“I decided that Everest Poker was a great site to partner with. I want to be accessible to the average player, so will be involved with Everest players both on and off the table. Over the last few years I have been really busy in Macau, but now that the games have calmed down I have the time on my hands to really get involved with Everest Poker.”

The room has already decided how to best celebrate their newly acquired ambassador and announced that they would be offering 10% of his WSOP 2014 winnings (except his score in the Big One event). Players can participate in two ways: 5% goes to Team Diamond, or those who deposit at least $20 and generate over 40 Summit Points. Qualifying players receive their share in proportion to their Summit Point contribution to the total amount generated by the team. The other 5% will be distributed among the Top 10 collectors of Summit Points from April to June.

“There are a lot of people that will never get the chance to play in the WSOP or win a huge amount of money, so I wanted to have the chance to do that for other people. I also want to help make poker fun – it’s always good sweating someone and I want our players to feel a part of the big games this year even if they aren’t participating themselves,” Trickett commented the promotion.
