Winners Confused over British Poker Awards Decisions

The Best Live Tournament Player has barely entered any tournaments and the Best Blogger has not posted a word for nine month. Surprising decisions have been made at the latest British Poker Awards.

British Poker Awards

On 2 March, the fourth British Poker Awards ceremony was held at the Hippodrome Casino in London to award actors of the poker scene in 18 categories. While the festival has grown to be one of the most prestigious event of its kind in the past years, that recognition may have suffered a bit due to some ambiguous decisions this year. For instance, Best Live Tournament Player Sam Trickett has been amazed that he had won the title.

Trickett won the Aussie Millions Super High Roller for $2,111,397 and finished 2nd in the PartyPoker Premier League VI for $254,000 but has scored little more than that last year, especially as he has hardly entered any major tournaments – not to mention the fact that the PartyPoker Premier League is more of a SNG than an actual tournament.

The British ace also received the Best Live Cash Player award from the readers, a definitely more reasonable decision. However, another ridiculous call was to give the Best Blogger title to Neil Channing, who had not posted a single word for about nine months before the ceremony. What is more, when asked, Best Contribution to Growing/Promoting Poker award winner Tony Kindall could not, in fact, say what the reason was behind the title, as he did not do too much about poker in 2013.
