WSOP 2014 Event #38 - George Danzer Doubles
Day 3 of WSOP Event #38 $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split-8 or Better saw 13 players returning, including chipleader George Danzer, as well as the likes of Jeff Lisandro, Brian Hastings, Ted Forrest and Calvin Anderson.
Todd Brunson, Alexander Jung, Forrest and Norman Chad got eliminated before Danzer railed Richard Sklar and John Monnette in the same hand and the rest of the field was seated at the Final Table. The chip counts were as follows:
George Danzer – 1,187,000
Calvin Anderson – 863,000
Brian Hastings – 671,000
Jeff Lisandro – 600,000
David Singer – 262,000
John Racener – 231,000
Chris George – 201,000
On Level 23 (20,000/40,000), Danzer eliminated David Singer, too: the $10,000 Seven Card Razz event winner German made an 8-high straight for both the high and the low pots. Singer was drawing live when tabling the cards but he missed his outs for the low pot and only had a pair of aces for the high.
WSOP 2012 $10,000 NLHE Heads-Up champion Hastings eliminated Chris George in 6th and then he moved on to re-raise Lisandro on the fifth street. Lisandro called and bet again on the 6th, Hastings raised, Lisandro 3-bet all-in for 95,000 and Hastings called.
Lisandro: A A / K 2 7 7 / 6
Hastings: Q Q / Q 9 T 2 A
Lisandro shoved with two pairs but Hastings had trip queens. The 7th street did not help the former, so is he forced to wait for another opportunity to grab a 6th WSOP title.
Hastings himself was out in 4th, mucking his hand to Danzer’s ten-high straight. On Level 27 (10,000/50,000/100,000), shortstack Racener doubled up through Anderson, making former online MTT money list winner be left with the fewest chips and he was railed soon by Danzer’s set of jacks.
George Danzer – 2,480,000
John Racener – 1,600,000
Danzer dominated the heads-up and Racener was down to only 275,000 in chips by Level 28 (15,000/60,000/120,000). In the last hand, he limped with a queen, Danzer raised on a nine, Racener 3-bet, Danzer 4-bet and they shoved.
Racener: A T / Q 5 2 Q / 8
Danzer: 8 K / 9 J K 3 / 2
Racener’s queens were not enough against Danzer’s kings and the latter thus became the first player this year with two titles, winning two $10,000 events.
End results:
1st: George Danzer – $352,696
2nd: John Racener – $217,935
3rd: Calvin Anderson – $136,490
4th: Brian Hastings – $98,828
5th: Jeff Lisandro – $77,238
6th: Chris George – $61,594
7th: David Singer – $50,018
