WSOP Event #12: Brian Hastings Is Heads-Up Champion
Day 3 of Event #12 $10,000 NLHE Heads-Up in the World Series of Poker 2012 featured the semi-finals and the finale of the tournament with Tommy Chen against Brian Hastings and Jason Mo against Brock Parker.
Players started the semi-finals of WSOP 2012 Event #12 $10,000 NLHE Heads-Up with 640,000 in chips plus two add-ons for stacks of a total of 1,920,000 each.
On Level 72 (12,000/24,000), Chen already asked for his second add-on, busting out with J T against Hastings’ T T but he managed to come back, starting the next level with a slight edge. Hastings, however, succeeded in grabbing the lead once again and, eventually, they shoved on Level 76 (40,000/80,000) preflop:
Brian Hastings: K T
Tommy Chen: 8 8
Board: 2 Q 5 T Q
Hastings made it to the final table with a pair of tens.
Brock Parker
Meanwhile, Parker acquired a lead with 1,650,000 with both his add-ons still available, when Mo had 1,000,000 left and no add-ons. He managed to come back nevertheless, forcing Parker to use his add-ons but even those could not help him. The final hand occurred almost at the same time as on the other table, the players shoving on the K 9 Q board:
Brock Parker: Q 8
Jason Mo: K 4
Turn: 3
River: T
Jason Mo
With a top pair, Mo was in the finale, too. Hastings seemed unstoppable, though; he developed an edge over the first couple of hands and dominated the match all along. Mo could double up once but the finale as over on Level 81 (40,000/80,000) with two consecutive hands nevertheless.
Jason Mo: A 3
Brian Hastings: A 7
Board: 2 K T 7 5
Mo was left with 430,000 in chips and he shoved it on Hastings’ preflop raise in the next hand:
Brian Hastings: A 4
Jason Mo: Q 9
Board: A 8 J Q 7
Brian Hastings
Hastings won the heads-up championship and the $371,498 first prize with a top pair.
