WSOP Heads-Up Rematches Coming Up

Finally, WSOP came up with a great new idea for a TV show. Have you ever imagined what a WSOP Main Event Final Heads-Up rematch would look like? Sam Farha having a chance to get back at Moneymaker? Well now you can watch it.

Harrah's revealed recently that they plan to recreate some of the most imporant and fierce heads-up battles in WSOP history at the World Series of Poker 2011. The event will take place on Thursday, June 2 at the Rio on the ESPN set in the Amazon Room.

3 Matchups are planned so far. In the first, Chris Moneymaker and Sammy Farha will recreate the 2003 WSOP Main Event final table in a "best out of three" format. In game one, they will have the exact same chip counts as in 2003, in the second, reversed, and in the third game, even stacks.

The second match will be between Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth, recreating the 1989 WSOP Main Event final table. Only one match will be held, with the original chip counts.

The third match, however, is up to the public: WSOP allows fans to vote on matches from the following:

- Johnny Chan vs. Erik Seidel
- Greg Raymer vs. David Williams
- Jamie Gold vs. Paul Wascika
- Jonathan Duhamel vs. John Racener

Go to WSOP's Facebook page to vote.

ESPN will televise a two-hour special, featuring back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, July 26 consisting of all three rematches. As part of the special, ESPN will also include footage from the original matchups and offer interviews with the relevant participants discussing their original matches.

I think this is a great idea, it's always fascinating to ask: What if? What if Chris Moneymaker didn't win against Sam Farha in 2003? What if Phil Hellmuth didn't win against Johnny Chan in 1989. Would that change their carreers? We don't know, but we can still enjoy the pros taking revenge. How do you like this idea? Would you watch it?
