Players who wish to participate in the WSOP 2014 $10,000 Main Event but cannot or do not want to pay the full fee now have the opportunity to qualify through online satellites. On 13 March, 888Poker launches its qualifier tournaments for the ultimate live tournament of the year.

Even players with the smallest bankrolls get a chance to qualify: Step 1 satellites are available from as little as $0.01. Step 2 qualifiers are available for $0.10 but the chance of winning a seat at the Main Event is likely to be even worth a Step 3 or Step 4 entry for most players at $1 and $5, respectively. The last step, a direct qualifier to the Main Event itself is the Step 7 tournament for a buy-in of $1,050.

The 888Poker WSOP Main Event online satellite steps are as follows:

The packages up for grabs are worth $15,000 each, containing the $10,000 buy-in for the Main Event, $1,500 for travel costs, $500 cash as well as accommodation for six nights at the Palazzo Hotel.

Interestingly enough, the Palazzo is owned by Sheldon Adelson, who has gained recent infamy for establishing the Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling (CSIG) and using intimidation and the fear of a terrorist attack to oppose the legalization of online gambling in the United States. It goes without saying that his hotel heartily welcomes players qualifying from the 888Poker online satellites.

The WSOP brand is owned by Caesars and 888Poker holds exclusive rights to organize official online satellites on the .com market. For the first time in the history of the WSOP, online satellites are available on the regulated US markets, at online poker rooms run by Caesars.

The winner of this year’s WSOP Main Event wins a guaranteed prize of $10,000,000, a prospect well worth trying your luck at an online satellite.

The official WSOP 2014 calendar was released in February. Apparently, this year will be rich in large buy-in events with a total of a dozen of $10,000 tournaments, not to mention the Big One for One Drop event.
