WSOP Main Event - Pius Heinz Wins, Takes Home $8,7 Million

Pius Heinz, to first German player in the history of the WSOP won the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event. He defeated the Czech Martin Staszko for the amazing $8,711,956 main prize, and of course the WSOP bracelet.

The 3-handed final table of the 2011 WSOP Main Event was held yesterday, with the participation of the 3 remaining players:

Seat 7: Pius Heinz - 107.800.000
Seat 8: Ben Lamb - 55.400.000
Seat 9: Martin Staszko - 42.700.000

Dealing started on the 40th blind level (200.000/600.000/1.200.000), and action began in the very first hand. Heinz folded on the button, when Ben Lamb raised to 3,000,000. Staszko reraised to $7,500,000. After a bit of hesitation, Lamb went all-in. Staszko called.

Staszko already had 85,600,000 by the end of the hand, Lamb was left with 12,700,000.

Staszko was the chipleader a few hands later. He stole the majority of Lamb's chips in the following hands, and not much later, the heads-up was set. Heinz folded on the button, when the SB Lamb went all-in with his remaining 10,900,000. Staszko found pocket jacks, Lamb has shown Q 6 . The board didn't help Lamb, Staszko elimited him at 3rd place.

The heads-up brought great action, in one of the first big hands (still on the 40th blind level) Heinz took the lead. He started the hand with a pre-flop raise to 3,700,000 from the SB. Staszko insta-called. The flop came 9 5 8 . Heinz cbet 4,300,000, Staszko called. The turn was Q . Heinz bet 8,800,000, Staszko called. Heinz checked the T river, and Staszko hesitated for quite some time, which wasn't characteristic of him. In the end, he pushed 14,500,000 in. Heinz went all-in, which made Staszko fold his hand.

On the 41th blind level (200.000/800.000/1.600.000) Staszko took the lead once again. He raised to 3,500,000 from position. The ever so aggressive Heinz 3bet to 10,100,000, Staszko called. The flop came 7 2 T . Heinz bet 9,800,000, Staszko called. Seeing the A turn, Heinz started counting his chips, in the end he bet 21,300,000. Staszko went all-in with his 60,000 chips, Heinz folded quickly.

Staszko could grow his chiplead a bit, but Heinz quickly got back at him, he took the chiplead from his opponent winnin many minor pots. He couln't secure his lead, however, in this part of the game the two players have shown a quite even performance.

By the 42nd blind level (300.000/1.000.000/2.000.000) Staszko could finally establish a considerable lead, with a higher straight he doubled up, and at a point he had triple amount of chips as Heinz had. Of course, in such a game a takeover was expected. By the end of the 43rd level  (300.000/1.200.000/2.400.000) Heinz climbed back to 81,150,000. He managed to double up on Staszko there. He limped from the button, Heinz raised to 7,900,000. Staszko didn't hollywood too much, after short thinking he called. The flop brought T 7 K . Heinz kept firing, this time he bet 8,200,000. Staszko re-popped to 17,500,000. Heinz took his time and analyzed his situation, in the end he pushed all-in. Staszko called.

From that point, Staszko couldn't make a comeback, he pushed his remaining chips in pre-flop. Heinz called.
