Moorman1 wins 22nd Triple Crown title

Chris "Moorman1" Moorman is a poker legend, he was the first player to ever reach $10 million in online tournament winnings, and he is also an all time leader in the Triple Crown rankings. Last week, he earned his 22nd title by winning the final tournament that was eligible for a TC title.

As we have previously reported, Chris Moorman, widely regarded as the best online tournament player ever to grab a mouse, won his 21st Triple Crown title about 2,5 weeks ago, but he managed to score yet another title just a few days later.

Moorman started off well, winning the $82 6-max hyper turbo tournament on PokerStars and then winning the Full Tilt Online Poker series Event #5 for combined winnings of over $10,000 in the first 2 days of the week and needed only one more score.

To win a Triple Crown title, one is required to win 3 different tournaments in a span of 7 days, with each of the tournaments having at least 100 entrants and a $10,000 prizepool.

The third victory was actually the last tournament that was still inside the 7-day timeframe, he shipped the PokerStars.FR Monday Night €30,000 guaranteed event for $9,211.

For most people this feat alone would be a huge adrenaline boost, but when you have won as much money and as many titles as Moorman, it's not special anymore. This was confirmed by the post on Twitter which shows that for him, this is just another day in the office:

"Another week of poker, another Triple  Crown. This time I did it on my very last tournament that was eligible #22"

Moorman's strategy when it comes to winning Triple Crowns is simple:

First he tries to get the first victory in a smaller room, and then he goes on the bigger networks where there are much more tournaments running to try to secure the second and third win.

Some of the sites Moorman plays at are popular sites with semi-big fields, like Winamax.fr or PokerStars.FR, but he also targets smaller rooms such as:

Paddy Power Poker: The Irish site has tournaments with guarantees and small fields, so this is an ideal choice for Moorman, he won a $33 rebuy tournament here on his way to his 21st TC.

William Hill Poker: William Hill has a strong tournament offering, especially on Sundays. William Hill also has many players who join the poker tables from the sports betting site or the popular Vegas casino games site, combine this with the smaller player pools and you can see why it's a great spot for Moorman to try to rack up some early scores.

Moorman is in a huge lead on the Triple Crown leaderboard, the next one on the list, Hungarian grinder Belabacsi has 11 titles, but he has opted out from tracking sites, so it is possible that he has won multiple Triple Crowns.
