Daniel Negreanu Is Live Tournament Player of the Decade

The Global Poker Index has determined that PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu is the best live tournament player of the past decade. Runner-up on the top list is Erik Seidel.

The Global Poker Index has started publishing a list of the best live multi-table tournament players of the past decade. Late last week, the top two finishers were finally revealed: according to the GPI calculations, Daniel Negreanu tops the list with 7,377 points.

“I’m very honoured by this award. I’ve worked hard on my game throughout the decade, so that I could find ways to consistently win year in, year out against tougher and tougher competition each year. I’ve never wanted to rest on my name alone and winning has always been important to me. The game has changed a lot over the past 10 years, but the key ingredient for success hasn’t: confidence. I enter the next decade more confident than ever before,” Negreanu commented.

His lifetime winnings are $19,539,209, qualifying him as the third biggest winner of all time. He has been collecting WSOP bracelets since 1998, or the age of 23. Of the last ten, the best years of the Canadian were 2004 and 2013, with several very successful seasons in between.
