Ziigmund to Abandon High-Stakes Games for a While

Although Ilari ‘Ziigmund’ Sahamies stated earlier this year that he is going to take a break in poker and spend the summer partying, he nevertheless played on FTP both in June and July. He only played 6870 hands, though, and earned $289,328 doing that, so it wasn’t a bad decision after all.

However, he became even more active during August, which in turn cost him $885,460, making him second after Gus Hansen, who lost $1,691,207 in August alone. Ziigmund finished his last session with around -$180,000, losing $148,000 to Patrik Antonius and Vaga_Lion in $300/$600 PLO and the rest to Phil 'OMGClayAiken' Galfond. Ziigmund commented on his blog that he was going to abandon the high-stakes tables for a while: “I start to play now more....Just lost 180k but I try to play next few weeks smaller than 200 400....lets see.”

Well, considering how rare the pro sober is and what the odds are he can restrain himself, we’ll see indeed…
