WSOP APAC - Shack-Harris overtakes Danzer in Player of the Year race, Dealer's Choice event underway

Brandon-Shack Harris final tabled Event 4 of the WSOP APAC, his fourth place finish earned him enough points to overtake George Danzer. Danzer actually took the lead thanks to a good run in Event 1 (22nd place), but Shack-Harris currently has a 44.4 point lead on the German pro. The WSOP Player of the Year award could be decided in the final events of the APAC, Danzer has the chance to catch up in the Dealer's Choice event, where there are currently 19 players left.

Phil Ivey loses £7.7 million Edge Sorting Case Against Crockfords Casino

As we have previously reported, Phil Ivey sued the Crockfords Casino for withholding his winnings of 7.7 million GBP, that we won playing Punto Banco (a form of baccarat) in 2012.  The casino claimed that Ivey's technique of ''Edge Sorting'' was illegal, while Ivey said that it was the casino's fault that they let him play with cards that had small variations in the pattern on the cards, which he used for his advantage. Judge John Mitting ruled that the technique was indeed cheating and that Ivey gave himself an unfair advantage.

Jonathan Duhamel looking for his second bracelet in Australia

Jonathan Duhamel won the 2010 World Series of Poker, but has not been able to win a second bracelet since. The Canadian poker pro recently gave a short interview where he talks about hockey, why he chose the WSOP APAC over EPT London, and about playing in Macau.

This time, he beat a star-studded final table with players like Sam Trickett, Isaac Haxton and Christoph Vogelsang to claim the 600,000 GBP first prize at the WPT Alpha8 event in London.

Tom Dwan has bigger problems than paying Jungleman?

It is well known that Tom "durrrr" Dwan has been avoiding Daniel "jungleman12" Cates at the online tables for years, even though the two players have a challenge in progress. Cates claims that Dwan is crazy and impossible to work with, while Tom prefers staying quiet about the whole issue. Now a poster on the 2+2 forums claims that paying jungleman his $1.5 million is the least of Dwan's problems.

Jennifer Shahade is a two-time American women's chess champion and poker player, who participated in the first ever poker/chess mix heads-up tournament that was held at the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Isle of Man stop. She played three different poker and chess opponents at the same time, moving around the tables while her opponents were thinking how to play their hand/turn, which is quite an impressive feat even when you don't have to battle heads-up poker geniuses like Ike Haxton as well as various chess grandmasters. In the end, she won 5 of the 6 battles, only losing one of the poker matches.

 

Jeff Lisandro wins WSOP APAC bracelet, while Isai Scheinberg, founder of PokerStars, wins UKIPT Isle of Man High Roller

123 players registered for the A$1,650 Pot Limit Omaha tournament at the WSOP APAC, and there were plenty of great players in the field. In the end, Jeff Lisandro won the 6th bracelet of his career and the A$51,660 first prize. Meanwhile, on the other end of the globe, Isai Scheinberg, the founder of PokerStars won the UKIPT High Roller tournament for almost 14,000 GBP (roughly $22,000).

Phil Ivey has been known to be a regular at the tables, spending plenty of his time playing for huge pots against Chinese businessmen. It's unclear whether the businessmen decided to fly Ivey out to have a well-known poker celebrity at the table, or if Phil heard about a good game and decided flying was the quickest way to get to the tables, but the picture is pretty baller in either case.

Underground Poker not picked up by the Discovery Channel

As we have previously reported, Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak starred in a reality show called Underground Poker. The pilot episode showed Antonio and Phil hunting for some juicy private games in New Orleans, but unfortunately this is going to be the only episode for a while, since Discovery Channel decided to pass on the show. 

September High Stakes Report - Ike "luvtheWNBA" Haxton wins $700,000, Gus Hansen drops another million

Ike "luvtheWNBA" Haxton was the most profitable player in September, winning $717,347 in less than 2,200 hands. The biggest loser of the month, as usual, is Gus Hansen, who dropped $921,276.
